How can I use Google Docs in my Classroom?
Google Docs can be used in replace of Word documents. The great thing about Google Docs is that students can share docs between themselves or with teachers to encourage collaboration and real time edits in one single document. Google Docs are stored in the cloud which means they can be accessed anywhere there is internet connectivity.
Google Docs allows users the ability to track revisions, make comments, research and cite directly in the program. Teachers have found this to be a useful tool for marking and giving feedback to students directly on the assignment, in real time. Paired with Google Classroom, simplicity and efficiency will be your best friend.
Examples:
Use one document for the entire class to brainstorm ideas or share thoughts.
Students can work from home and collaborate with members of their group at times convenient to them.
Teachers can track revisions using the "revision history".
Files are easily shared, save automatically and don't need to be sent back and forth between people.
The functions of Google Docs mimic a simplistic version of Word, which means they are easy to use for everyone.
Documents can be shared with a link for others to view, so the whole class can benefit from the learning.
